Silk vs. Satin: Understanding the Difference
Silk is a fibre; satin is a weave. Here is how to choose between them for drape, sheen and budget.

Many buyers use the words interchangeably, but silk describes a natural protein fibre while satin describes a weave structure that creates a glossy face.
A satin can be woven from silk, polyester or blends. Silk satin (charmeuse) offers unmatched breathability and fluidity; polyester satin offers durability and value.
For bridal and couture, silk charmeuse or duchess satin are classic. For volume production, high-quality polyester satins deliver consistency across bulk orders.
